PERSONA 3 PORTABLE DRAMA CD VOL.2, PART 1
And so, here's the second drama CD for P3P. In a stroke of luck, this one has no Tomochika whatsoever! ... I mean, it's not like I don't like him, but he makes translating so painful at times 'cause I have no idea what he's saying half the time. ... But in exchange, more Elizabeth. And while I love Elizabeth, her manner of speech is difficult for me to understand occasionally as well. Well, all in all, I think this one went rather well, though.

Male Protagonist (“Leader”): “If it bothers you that much, why don’t you go visit her?”
Junpei: “I would if I could! And Senpai said she’d leave it to me too, but... The doctor said it’s not good to visit her every day. But like, what if her Persona goes berserk again? I’m seriously worried about that...”
Leader: “Didn't Aragaki-san leave some medicine for that?”
Junpei: “I know, but, she still didn’t really look too good after that, so...” (... sigh)
Aigis: “The total number of sighs has now reached 50. The intervals between sighs have increasingly shortened as well. I calculate that the next sigh will occur in approximately 2.0 minutes.
Junpei: “... Can we stop with the depressing talk already?”

Amada Ken: “Ah...! Leader!”
Aigis: “Amada-san. Welcome back.”
Amada: “Same to you, welcome back, Aigis-san. Looks like we were on the same train.”
Leader: “Looks like it.”
Amada: (a happy expression)

Amada: “...! Um... It’s just that, coming home with everyone feels... kinda fun, I guess.”
Aigis: “I see. So returning home is classified as ‘fun’.”
Amada: “Junpei-san doesn’t seem to be in very high spirits, though...”
Junpei: (... an even more desolate sigh)
Aigis: “Timed at 51 seconds since the last.”
Leader: “Looks like it was sooner than you predicted, Aigis.”

Leader: “Ah, Grandpa Bunkichi!”
Aigis: “Good afternoon!”
Junpei: “S’up!”
Amada: (shy) “... Good afternoon.”
Kitamura Bunkichi: “Oh...!? This small boy...?” (sniffs) “... I see, so that’s it...! How wonderful! You finally managed to find each other...!”
Amada: “---Eh? What do you mean?”
Bunkichi: “You said that you were searching for your long lost younger brother, didn’t you?”
Leader: “No, I never said that...”
Aigis: “To think that Leader and Amada-san were hiding that sort of secret. I see...”
Leader: “I’m telling you, that’s not---”
Bunkichi: “Even if you don’t say anything, ol' Bunkichi here completely understands! The two of you secretly---”
Amada: “N, No, like he said---”

Kitamura Mitsuko: “Now, now, Grandpa. If you keep lying like that, the devil will cut off your tongue!”
Bunkichi: “Grandma, don’t say such scary things! It was just a little joke!”
Amada: “... So that’s what it was...”
Junpei: “You sure you’re not watching too many daytime soaps, Pops?”
Bunkichi: “Bah, daytime dramas aren’t nearly exciting enough for me!”
Aigis: “Strong stimulus is dangerous at your age.”
Bunkichi: “I’ll have you know I still have plenty of youth left in me! Now then, how about a present for the Little Brother, eh? To commemorate our meeting!”

Amada: “--Ah! What is this?”
Aigis: “Based on the shape and composition, I believe it is ‘bread’.”
Bunkichi: “Eat up and grow up big and strong, y'hear?”
Amada: (shy) “... Thank you very much...”
Mitsuko: “You sure are in high spirits today, aren’t you Grandpa?”
Leader: “Did something good happen?”
Bunkichi: “... Well, you know... What’s it called, that ‘Ataphy Syndrome’ thing going around...”
Junpei: “You mean ‘Apathy Syndrome’, right?”
Bunkichi: “It’s such a shame to see so many young people standing around and acting so lifeless! It’s such a heart-wrenching sight!”
Mitsuko: “But a few days ago, they suddenly stopped appearing, right? ”
Amada: “I guess it’s hard not to notice, isn’t it? It’s the same in Port Island too...”
Bunkichi: “According to the news, a large number of them suddenly recover once every month. So maybe someone out there’s found a way to help 'em all, you know?”

Kirijou Mitsuru: “Yes. Every time we defeated a large Shadow on nights with a full moon, the number of Apathy Syndrome victims have decreased exponentially. The battles that we’ve been fighting until now have shown positive effects.”
Amada: “So it’s all thanks to our efforts, right? ... Hehe...”
Takeba Yukari: “What're you saying now all of a sudden? … Oh, wait, that’s right. That was the first time you ever fought a Full Moon Battle, wasn’t it, Amada-kun?”
Sanada Akihiko: “It’s your first time seeing the results of our efforts, eh?”
Amada: “Yes! The Lost Ones haven’t been around lately, and the news is saying so too...”
Junpei: “You were happy when you heard the old man at the bookstore’s theory about ‘someone helping everyone’, right? Though it’s not probably exactly in the way that he thinks.”
Yamagishi Fuuka: “It’s possible that defeating normal Shadows in our Tartarus expeditions might be having an effect too, albeit in lesser numbers than from the Full Moon Battles. It makes me happy every time I see it too.”
Amada: (happy) “Aha... We’re... actually really pretty awesome, aren’t we?”
Kirijou: “So it seems. By fighting and defeating Shadows, we are doing our parts to preserve this world. That’s something to be proud of.”
Amada: “Proud...?”
Junpei: “Just think of it as us doing our part to ‘protect the world’.”
Amada: “‘Protecting the world’... Haha, somehow... it’s almost as if we’re heroes of justice, isn’t it?”
Junpei: “Heh, well, something like that. We’re the only ones who can use our Persona to fight off Shadows after all.”
Aigis: “If we compare our actions to that of ‘heroes of justice’, then an equivalent comparison would be to that of ‘Phoenix Ranger Featherman R’.”
Amada: “Featherman... S-So you’re saying I’m like Featherman!?”
Fuuka: (giggles) “So you like Featherman, Amada-kun?”
Amada: (embarrassed) “... I-It’s not that I like them or anything...”
Junpei: “Haha, don’t be so embarrassed! There’s no kid in this world who doesn’t like Sentai heroes!”
Amada: “I, I’m not a kid! … A-And anyway, what’s important isn’t being recognized as heroes, but rather, protecting the world, isn’t it?”
Kirijou: (chuckles) “An excellent display of courage.”
Sanada: “You’re looking pretty dependable there.”
Yukari: “Moreso than Junpei, anyway.”
Junpei: “Let’s keep that momentum up and keep on protecting this world, alright?”
Amada: “Yes!”
Aragaki Shinjiro: “... Just be careful not to rush and end up tripping over your own feet.”

Sanada: “Shinji, don’t say that. Having strong motivation isn’t a bad thing.”
Amada: (mood worsening) “... Trip over Shadows? If a Shadow appears, I’ll just defeat it, so it's fine.”
Junpei: “Getting heated up, ain't ya?”
Amada: “Well, I’m protecting the world, aren't I?”
Fuuka: (giggles) “You’re so cool, Amada-kun~”
Yukari: “Yeah, if we’re talking about Sentai, then he’d probably be Red, don’t you think?”
Junpei: “Ehhhh? Aren't I more suited for that role?”
Yukari: “Not a chance.”
Junpei: “---An immediate response!?”
Aragaki: “… The world, huh?”
- BGM: Mistic
Amada: (irritated) “... What is it? Do you have a problem with something?”
Aragaki: “... Not really.”
Amada: “If you have something to say, then please say it clearly!”
- SFX: [Amada slams his hands on the table]
Aragaki: “... It’s not like I’ve got anything to say about you in particular. It’s just... I can’t really understand anything as grand as ‘fighting to protect the world’.”
Amada: “... You ‘don’t understand’? Then... Then what ARE you fighting for?”
Aragaki: “... That’s...”
Amada: “... Because you enjoy violence...?”
Aragaki: “That ain’t it.”
Amada: “Isn’t protecting the world a good thing?”
Aragaki: “... You really sure it's the world you're fighting for, then?”
Amada: “...!”
Fuuka: “U-Um, well... Wh-What about dinner? Should I go make something?”
Yukari: “A, Ah, yeah, then, I’ll help too...!”
Amada: “... That’s right. I’m protecting this world... Whether it’s society or the Earth... In any case, protecting the world isn’t wrong! And, anyway! It’s not a matter of understanding or not, but doing it because we have to! … Because no one else besides us can...”
Aragaki: “That so? … Sorry ‘bout that.”

Sanada: “Shinji! Where are you going?”
Aragaki: “Just heading out for a bit.”

Aragaki: “Alright. Then let’s head for the shrine.”

Fuuka: “Ah, take care...!”

Amada: “... What’s with him...? Saying he doesn’t understand... Then just what is he even fighting for in the first place...!?”
Sanada: “Who knows?”
Amada: “... What about you, Leader? What’s your reason for fighting? For the world, right?”
Leader: “The world, huh...? I don't know about something as vague as 'saving the world', but I do think it's good that we're able to help the Apathy Syndrome victims.”
Junpei: “Hey now, isn't that thinking a bit small for our almighty leader?”
Amada: “That’s right! And you have some amazing powers, too!”
Kirijou: “Isn’t that fine? Everyone has a different reason for fighting, after all. Aragaki said that he didn’t understand, but he never said he didn’t have a reason at all, did he? It’s fine as long as you have a reason you’ve decided on.”
Amada: “... I guess so, but...”
Fuuka: “Then let’s start on dinner! You’re hungry, aren’t you Amada-kun?”
Amada: “... No, it’s fine. I’ll be heading to my room now.”

Leader: “He is.”
Aragaki: “You sound sure.”
Junpei: “Don’t tell me a little worm told you? Or a bookworm* at that!?" ((The name of Bunkichi's store is called "Bookworms".))
Sanada: “You’re starting to sound like Ikutsuki-san.”
Leader: “It wasn’t a worm, but I did receive confirmation.”
Aragaki: “Huh...?”
Kirijou: “In any case, it is true that people often wander in here. We’ve already found a number of Lost in here before. And, as far as such matters go, our Leader’s intuition has never been wrong. Of course, it doesn’t hurt to confirm with our own eyes either.”
Aigis: “At present, neither the neighbourhood nor police have reported any sightings of an eighty-year-old male either.”
Kirijou: “So it seems. The possibility is becoming more and more likely.”

Kirijou: “After joining the team, that’s the sort of face he’s made all this time. Amada is young, after all... The power of Persona may be too heavy a burden for him. If by thinking of himself as a hero of justice he’s able to lessen some of that burden, then it’s a not a bad thing.”

Kirijou: “And there are plenty of comrades to back him up as well, right?”
Aragaki: “Tch... Hey! I'm feeling pretty good today. I’ll come too.”
Leader: “I’ll be counting on you.”
Yukari: “What about you, Hero of Justice #1? Aren’t you raring to go too?”
Junpei: “‘Hero’... Certainly, there was a time when I coveted such a title. However, right now, rather than a hero who fights to save the world, what I wish to become is a knight who exists to protect a single girl!”
Sanada: “What’s up? That’s completely different from what you were saying yesterday.”

Junpei: “H-Heeyyyy...?”
Sanada: “Come on, the Dark Hour’s gonna end at this rate. If Junpei won’t go then I will. I can’t lose to Amada’s determination after all.”

Aragaki: “Splitting up in an unfamiliar area like this is too risky!”
Leader: “Yes, I agree...”
- SFX: [Another Shadow squirming about, a large one this time...]

Sanada: “The stairs are just up ahead! Let’s hurry!”
Amada: “But, what about the Shadow?”
Aragaki: “Ignore it! Once we go up the stairs, it’ll give up!”

Sanada: “Well, at least you’re not hurt too badly.”
